I continuously preach to my clients that the number on the scale doesn’t tell the whole story and that body composition ie % body fat mass in conjunction with lean muscle mass is more important than how much they weigh overall. That being said, I admit my body image can be influenced by the number on the scale. And while I have been working out in a very challenging upper/lower split program for the last 5 weeks I have been frustrated to see my weight gradually creeping up. Finally I decided to check my body composition and found that I actually have decreased my body fat percent and increased my muscle mass since last I checked. This was just a good reminder for me not to put too much stock in how much I weigh and focus on making my workouts challenging, eating quality nutrition and the numbers will take care of themselves.
